Discover why weight loss isn’t the problem, it’s a signal and learn how metabolic health, not restriction, holds the key to sustainable change.
You’ve probably noticed I don't talk a lot about weight loss.
That’s always been intentional. My work has focused on helping exhausted, intelligent women rebuild their energy, restore their health, and feel confident in their bodies again, often after years of burnout, post-viral fatigue, or hormonal disruption.
Weight gain has always been part of the conversation. But I didn’t centre it, because so often, weight is a symptom rather than a root cause.
Instead, I focused on the deeper drivers:
Blood sugar crashes and cravings
Hormonal imbalances
Chronic stress and nervous system dysregulation
Digestive issues and inflammation
Loss of identity and confidence through years of exhaustion
That’s still the heart of my work. But recently, the conversation has been evolving, and so have I.
Why I Haven’t Talked About Weight Loss Until Now
Clients have been coming to me saying:
“Why can’t I shift this weight even though I’m eating well?”
“Is this just menopause, or is something else going on?”
“Can I lose weight in a way that actually supports my health and energy?”
They’re not asking for crash diets. They’re asking for clarity, and a different kind of support.
But truthfully, I’ve hesitated to talk openly about weight loss.
Why? Because weight gain is often a signal, not the problem itself. It reflects what’s happening underneath, metabolically, hormonally, and emotionally.
And also because I’ve seen what happens when weight becomes the sole focus.
I grew up watching someone I love battle through cycles of calorie counting, fad diets, and the shame that came with them. It left lasting scars, physically and emotionally. Later, navigating my own challenges with chronic fatigue syndrome and the complex relationship between inflammation, energy and weight, I came to understand how ineffective (and even harmful) weight-first approaches can be.
For years, I chose to prioritise conversations around resilience, energy, and health restoration. And I still do.
But now I believe we can talk about weight loss in a new way, one rooted in metabolic care, not restriction.
What Is Metabolic Health, and Why Does It Matter?
Your metabolism is the system your body uses to create and manage energy. It’s not just about how fast you burn calories; it’s about how your cells function, how your hormones communicate, and how well your body adapts to stress.
When your metabolic health is strong, you’ll likely feel:
Energised and clear-headed
Satisfied after meals, not constantly craving
Less inflamed and puffy
Emotionally steady and physically strong
When it’s impaired, you might experience:
Fatigue or burnout
Cravings and blood sugar crashes
Increased belly fat or difficulty losing weight
Mood swings or irritability
Digestive issues
High cholesterol or early insulin resistance
From a medical perspective, poor metabolic health is linked to type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and more. But day-to-day, it often just feels like your body is no longer responding the way it used to, no matter how hard you try.
This is where so many women feel stuck. And where better answers are needed.
A Turning Point in My Practice (and in My Own Health)
Earlier this year, my own lab results showed raised lipid levels, something I hadn’t expected. I was eating well, moving my body, and prioritising rest. But stress had crept in. And with it came early signs of insulin resistance.
At the same time, I began noticing a pattern with clients: elevated cholesterol, stubborn weight gain, disrupted sleep, fatigue that wouldn’t lift, even with healthy habits in place.
What became clear was that the issue wasn’t just dietary.
It was metabolic.
So I began diving deeper into the science of metabolic health, refining my clinical tools, and helping clients reconnect with their own bodies.
Clients aren’t just losing weight. They’re gaining energy, clarity, and confidence.
And they’re doing it in a way that supports long-term wellbeing, not quick fixes.
And What About Ozempic?
The rise of GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Mounjaro has sparked a lot of conversation, and rightly so. These medications, originally used for type 2 diabetes, are now widely used for weight loss because they mimic GLP-1, a hormone that naturally helps regulate appetite, slow digestion, and improve insulin sensitivity.
I work with clients who are on GLP-1 medications, and I support their decision when it’s right for their situation. But medication alone is never the full solution.
Because GLP-1 is something your body can produce naturally, especially when we support it through:
Stable blood sugar
Increased protein and fibre intake
A healthy gut microbiome
Improved sleep and reduced stress
Regular movement and muscle-building activity
Medication can offer a window of support. But without working on the foundations of metabolic health, progress can stall, or rebound, over time.
Reframing the Weight Conversation
This is not about chasing a smaller body. It’s about building a better-functioning one.
When your metabolism is supported through personalised nutrition, appropriate supplementation, and lifestyle changes that respect your stress load, your body often responds with:
Natural fat loss
More balanced energy
Improved sleep
Better digestion
Less inflammation
And renewed confidence
So yes, I’m talking about weight loss. But I’m doing it differently.
This is not weight loss through punishment.
This is health restoration that sometimes includes weight loss as a by-product, not the prize.
What Comes Next
In the coming months, I’ll be sharing more about:
The upcoming 60-Day Metabolic Reset Programme — launching this autumn
Client-exclusive Nourish Sessions, diving into topics like insulin resistance, hormones, cravings, metabolism and mindset
Expanded blood testing in Barnstaple, to help more women access clear answers and real support
If you’ve been feeling stuck, inflamed, or frustrated with your body, I want you to know: you’re not broken. You’re not imagining it. And you’re not alone.
I empower exhausted, intelligent women to recover their metabolic health, so they can feel strong, clear, and confident in their bodies again, whether that includes weight loss or not.
And if that resonates with you, I’d love to support your next step.
