Same Day Blood Tests
Need a blood test without waiting for a test kit to arrive in the post?
I have partnered with Goodbody to offer a range of on-the-day blood tests that can be booked for the same day, subject to appointment availability. I will carry out your blood draw at the clinic, with your sample sent for laboratory analysis through Goodbody. Your results are reviewed by Goodbody's medical professionals and sent directly to you.
Some tests require you to fast beforehand. Where this is required, a morning appointment is recommended to make fasting easier.
Please note: This is a standalone blood-testing service and is separate from the nutritional blood testing and nutritional therapy services I provide through Nourish to Soar. These tests do not include nutritional interpretation, nutrition or lifestyle advice from me. Is the clinic location accessible?
The clinic in Uffculme is suitable for those with mobility issues. If accessibility is a concern, I offer a mobile phlebotomy service where I can come to your home. Alternatively, we can discuss the possibility of arranging blood tests through your GP if these options are not viable.
Are you a trained professional?
Yes. I have a background in children’s nursing and have completed additional phlebotomy training with Progressive Wellness Ltd.I am also registered with the Care and Quality Commission and the National Association for Phlebotomists, ensuring high standards of care.
What happens with the blood test results?
For my 1:1 clients, as a nutritional therapist and phlebotomist, I do not diagnose medical conditions. The blood test results will be reviewed firstly by Peninsula Private Medical Ltd, and all results are shared with your GP. I can work with you to interpret the results from a nutritional perspective and incorporate them into a personalised wellness plan. For those with blood test kits the results will be sent to you directly from the company.
Can I use private healthcare to pay for your services?
This depends on your healthcare provider. I recommend checking with them directly to confirm what is covered. I am registered with the Care and Quality Commission (CQC), Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT), which may be recognised by some providers.
Can I bring someone with me to the appointment?
Yes, you are welcome to bring someone along to the appointment for support.
How long does the blood test appointment take?
A standard blood test appointment typically takes 15-20 minutes, including preparation and aftercare advice.
Will the blood test hurt?
Most people feel only a slight pinch or discomfort during the blood draw. I use techniques to minimise any discomfort and ensure the procedure is as smooth as possible.
What should I do before my appointment?
Depending on the test, you may need to fast for several hours beforehand. Specific instructions will be provided when you book your appointment. Stay hydrated, as this can make the blood draw easier.
Do I need to stop taking medication before the test?
No, but it is essential to inform me about any medications or supplements you are taking, as these might affect your test results.
How long will it take to get my results?
The turnaround time varies depending on the type of test but is typically 3-7 working days. I will let you know when to expect your results and provide updates as necessary.
Are there any age restrictions for blood tests?
Yes, I only take bloods on over 13 years of age. Please note that only certain tests are available for 13-15 years of age.
